GENERAL INFORMATION
The Kingdom of Eswatini, a small landlocked country in Southern Africa, is highly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change, including droughts, erratic rainfall, and rising temperatures. The project aims to strengthen the country’s readiness for investment in a low-carbon and climate-resilient development pathway by supporting the Ministry of Tourism and Environmental Affairs to assess and prioritize adaptation and mitigation actions, and to develop project proposals for submission to climate finance sources such as the Green Climate Fund (GCF). It also seeks to enhance the skills of key project managers and coordinators across institutions through targeted training in project development and management.
The project enhanced Swaziland's readiness for investment in a low-carbon and climate resilient development pathway. It provides support to the Ministry of Tourism and Environment Affairs to assess and prioritize adaptation and mitigation actions and develop proposals for submission to climate finance sources, such as the GCF. It contributes to the training of key project managers and coordinators in different institutions on project development and management.
The project has three main components:
- Assess and prioritize adaptation and mitigation actions.
- Develop concept notes and proposals for submission to climate finance sources such as the Green Climate Fund (GCF).
- Provide training to key project managers and coordinators across institutions on project development and management.
The project key deliverables upon completion include the following:
Development of concept notes on:
Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Solutions for Eswatini
